100% CPU load when enabling 2.4GHz radio - WNDR3700v1 (atheros)

With the new r16994 build by brainslayer I have an extreme CPU load of 100% when I enable wifi0 (2.4GHz radio) on WNDR3700.
top shows me that what is using so much CPU is [ksoftirqd/0]. cat /proc/interrupts reveals that wifi0 (2.4GHz) creates over a million interrupts in less than a minute (!). Disabling the 2.4GHz radio immediately stops any additional interrupts and consequently, the high CPU load. This is with default wireless settings, although playing with them or changing wireless security settings makes no difference either. The 5GHz radio (wifi1) works without exhibiting this problem. My previous build was r16454, I couldn't observe this problem there. My current build is:
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/08/11) std (SVN revision 16994)
