DD-WRT v24 RC-6 -- WAN IP address (DHCP) is lost when DynDNS support is enabled
| Reported by: | anonymous | Owned by: | somebody |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keywords: | ddns dyndns wan ip | Cc: |
Description
Using Belkin F5D7230 v1444 and DD-WRT v24 RC-6 (01/02/08) micro. Cable modem is a D-link DCM-290 using Comcast's service.
When DDNS support is enabled and configured (properly or improperly) the router attempts to contact dyndns.org and immediately drops the WAN IP. When DDNS support is set back to 'disabled' the WAN IP can be regained by going to the Status->Router tab and clicking "Renew Lease" at the bottom.

i think the same. dyndns has nothing todo with your wan ip. it just registers the ip at dyndns.org and thats all. beside this my router does not show such effects and my router has dyndns enabled

I can understand why they may be thinking this, since I installed rc6 my router drops the ip at a very regular interval.I have a WRT54gswith micro installed, I also have been using ddns, I have turned it off to see if it rectifies the problem.

I have a "Buffalo WBR-G54 / WLA-G54" running "DD-WRT v24 RC-6 (01/02/08) vpn - build 8743" and every day when I come home after work I have to release and renew my WAN IP on the router because it dropped it. I'm using the freedns.afraid.org DDNS. I'll will try a newer version as sugested here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=155290&sid=175927a0a41c695efb8a876d16bd3f8d
