FON's 2200B RedBoot Environment is Purposefully Troublesome/Defective/Crippled, Can you COMPILE a NEW/Un-Crippled Replacement RedBoot??

yes i can. but i dont have a unit for testing and if i do something wrong it will brick the device. i have special jtag equipment for handling the fonera and other devices while development. so you must wait until i received a 2200B unit

If you do create a new RedBoot bootloader, make it so they are flasheable on BOTH Fon2100 & Fon2200 units. Fon, in there infinite wisdom, crippled only the Fon2200 units and they behave different from one another. I'd want to flash all of my Fon's with the exact same version of the bootloader in order to be consistent when updating DD-WRT every month.

i dont know if this is possible. but i will try it. the redboot should work on both, but if there are ethernet chipset differences it might bring you into troubles.

I LOVE using RedBoot to upgrade DD-WRT, as it IS the MOST reliable, I simply copy commands from a text file I have. As, the WebGUI sometimes, creates partial/corrupted flashed. It often times out and the flashed file is inconsistent.
