5GHz (ath1) interface won't enable on WNDR3700v4

Description

I have a pair of WNDR3700v4 routers configured as one being the primary, the other being a WAP, connected via powerline. I have a roaming wireless setup, where the same SSID and password is setup on both units, the only difference being different channels on the respective units.

I noticed a rather bizarre behaviour on the 5Ghz interface on both units, where by despite being configured to be enabled in the GUI, the 5GHz will not broadcast and cannot be seen by any wireless client.

Observing the router on boot up the 5GHz wireless indicator light (blue) comes on very briefly then goes off when the router is fully up.

Running ifconfig, the ath1 interface is active, with a valid MAC, but shows as:

UP BROADCAST MULTICAST. "RUNNING" is not shown.

Also, what's even stranger is that running ifconfig ath1 down via SSH, the 5GHz indicator light immediately lights up on the router, the ath1 interface however has disappeared from ifconfig.

Running ifconfig ath1 up, the interface comes back up and displays UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST briefly before returning to UP BROADCAST MULTICAST.

Similarly, if I apply wireless settings (even if I haven't changed anything) the 5GHz indicator light will come on briefly before going off again.

It seems to be a like a bug because of the way ifconfig ath1 down actually causes the 5GHz indicator light to turn on. I can't see to get the 5GHz interface to come up reliably on these routers.

Thanks for your reply. So this issue is fixed in r31277?

I used the build referenced on the wiki, because of reported issues with new builds being too big for the Netgear flash space. However, if the latest build works I'll give that a try!
