What would benefit of slowing down the Ethernet speed from 1Gbps to 100Mbps?

If you really want to slow down the Lan speed to 100Mbps just replace your Ethernet adapters with 100Mbps hardware or use patch cord with only 4 wires in the cable. Since gigabit needs all 8 wires to operate. If you use Windows you can force the NIC to only operate at 100Mbps. If not get the latest driver for your NIC adapters. Im sure linux/ OSX can do the same.

I own the same router model here. But I know it can overheat easy and people did not like it because it has design flaws with cooling and build quality.
